I'd better warn you right away, if you're looking for a 100% local recipe with every vitamin in the alphabet in it, frankly, it's possible... but I can't be bothered!
I'm not at all a “coquette” woman, much to the chagrin of my father, who encouraged me throughout my teenage years. He's a true aesthete, and I'm just learning (or allowing myself) to take care of myself at 34.
I said it somewhere in the Guinétopia podcast episode about my values: I'm lazy. As soon as something is too hard or too complicated, I give up.
So, there's a recipe for a natural body scrub that I found on the internet that suits me well, with ingredients that can be found in almost any kitchen: it's a mixture of honey, olive oil, and sugar!

Since olive oil is crazy expensive here and I prefer to eat it in a good salad, I replaced it with coconut oil. Honestly, virgin coconut oil is just as expensive in Guinea, but let's just say it's closer to us culturally.
Honey (antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, which help purify and treat blemishes)
Coconut oil (moisturizing, soothing, and antimicrobial)
Sugar (the most convenient exfoliant for those of us who don't drink coffee)
And that's it, and it does the job!
As for the quantities, I can't really help you there as I do it by eye, but for my curvy body I use 3 large spoonfuls of sugar and the same amount of honey. I would just say to leave the oil level about a centimeter above the sugar + honey.
It is applied to wet skin, but as the sugar grains melt, I prefer to increase the amount of oil to coat myself first and then add the sugar so that I have time to rub it in before the grains melt.
It works very well on the face. In fact, I'm always surprised when premenstrual pimples appear and my forehead is still very smooth even several days after exfoliating.

And to tell you the truth, as I write these lines, I haven't bought any honey for over a month, but I'm continuing my exfoliation routine with a mixture of:
coconut oil
shea butter
sugar
And it works just as well!
Even after removing the oily layer with soap (I always wash with soap after exfoliating, not before, to preserve the skin's natural protection before scrubbing), my skin is smooth, supple, and moisturized!
And I do this ritual with my “Dancing Dayou” playlist on full blast, so it's a real moment of pleasure, every Sunday afternoon, especially when it's 30 degrees outside!
