DoR, Siphiwe Baleka's idea

Siphiwe Baleka, born and raised in the United States. A Yale philosophy graduate, successful entrepreneur, professional swimmer and President of the Guinea-Bissau Swimming Federation, he is a key strategist in defending the rights of people of African descent and the President of the Balanta B'urassa History & Genealogy Society In America.

After discovering his origins through the DNA test from AfricanAncestry.com, he traced his lineage, wrote several books including 3 volumes on the ancient history of the Balanta people and 3 volumes of English-Balanta conversation dictionaries (available here).

A fervent ambassador for repatriation to the continent since he was 20, he met the ministers of Sports, Culture and Tourism of Guinea-Bissau in 2020 and settled permanently in the country in 2021.

Already 5 groups hosted

Like the Year of Return of Ghana, the "Decade of Return to Guinea-Bissau" program is not only a tourism initiative helping the descendants of the country's ethnic groups to reconnect with their land of origin, but also a tool of diplomatic policy in order to have a special status recognized for this part of the African diaspora.

We received 3 groups in May, June and November 2021, one in November 2022 and a last one in May 2023 who were able to visit Balanta, Djola and Fula villages. Hopefully other ethnic groups will be represented throughout this decade!

We assisted in the creation of the Djola History and Genealogy In America as well as the Fula History and Genealogy In America and are willing to assist any other ethnic group to organize as part of a Grand Council of Lineage Restoration.

Daiana Gomes

Daïana Gomes, RepatBissau's nerd

Daiana Taborda Gomes, born and raised in France, repatriated after a diploma (BTS) in accounting and a license in hotel management.

She is the founder and manager of RepatBissau, a consulting company to help the diaspora to repatriate in the best conditions in this beautiful but difficult country. She knows how difficult it can be to integrate into a country with such a cultural gap.

Raised by her father's declaration "Guiné facil kumpu" - Guinea is (a country) easy to rule", she developed a strong political aspiration, writing an ambitious pamphlet dreaming of the ideal Guinea-Bissau, "Guinétopia".

She's the one who organizes the visits, creates the marketing content, from the video you've probably seen to this website and social media posts.

Speaking French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Kriol, she will welcome you like family wherever you come from!

Other ideas in development

Here is a list of business projects that Daiana is trying to develop... For those looking for investment opportunities, here you have innovative and transformative businesses for Bissau-Guinean society that will have a real impact in the country.
